Dear King Robinson Interdistrict Magnet School Families,
We hope you are having a wonderful, relaxing summer filled with fun adventures and memorable stories! As we look forward to the upcoming school year, we are excited to welcome both our returning families and those who are new to our community.
At King Robinson Interdistrict Magnet School, our International Baccalaureate (IB) mission empowers every student to become a responsible, productive global citizen. To help ensure a smooth transition into the new academic year, please note the following essential updates, district-wide changes, and save-the-date details:
📅 Save the Date: Mandatory School Orientation
Our official Back-to-School Orientation is scheduled for Thursday, August 20, 2026. We are hosting two sessions to accommodate your schedule. Please plan to attend one of the following times:
Morning Session: 11:00 a.m.
Evening Session: 5:00 p.m.
Orientation provides an excellent opportunity to meet our dedicated staff, explore our learning spaces, and pick up critical materials.
🎒 2026 Official Start Dates
Please mark your calendars for our official start dates for the 2026–2027 school year:
Grades K – 12: Monday, August 31, 2026
Pre-K (All Students): Wednesday, September 2, 2026
📱 New District Cell Phone Policy Reminder
In accordance with New Haven Public Schools regulations, our campus is strictly cell phone-free.
Yondr Pouches: Upon arriving at school, all students must secure their mobile phones, smartwatches, and wireless earbuds in a magnetically locked Yondr pouch.
Day-Long Security: Devices will remain locked in these pouches throughout the entire school day—including lunch and recess—and will be unlocked at dismissal.
Contacting Students: If an emergency arises and you must contact your child during the day, please call the King/Robinson Main Office directly at 475-220-2700.
🚌 Bus Transportation Updates
Ensuring a safe ride is our top priority. Please review these crucial NHPS Transportation Department guidelines:
Route Notifications: Official bus stop locations, pickup times, and assignments will be mailed directly to families during the third week of August.
Safety Policy for K-1 Students: All Kindergarten and 1st-grade students must be met at the bus stop by a parent or designated adult. Students will wear a bright yellow safety bracelet given by their teacher; if a guardian is missing, the bus will return the student safely to the school.
✏️ Core School Supply Lists
While teachers will share specialized, grade-specific supply details during our August 20th orientation, we recommend equipping your child with these foundational NHPS General Supply Items to start the year:
Daily Tech: A reliable backpack to safely transport school-issued electronic devices (Chromebooks/iPads).
Basic Stationery: Standard #2 pencils, pink erasers, and multi-colored highlighters.
Organization: Assorted pocket folders, standard three-ring binders, and notebooks.
📝 Important Next Steps
Early August Updates: You will receive a comprehensive back-to-school package in early August containing detailed schedules, classroom assignments, and uniform guidelines.
Mandatory Back-to-School Forms: All families must complete required orientation and address verification forms before the start of the year through the online NHPS PowerSchool Parent Portal.
If you have any urgent questions before our next update, please reach out to our office at 475-220-2700
Thank you for your ongoing partnership and dedication to distraction-free academic excellence. Enjoy the rest of your summer, and we look forward to seeing you on August 20th!
Warmest regards,
The Administration Team
